Role: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Princes Risborough
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) to access the curriculum and thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Working closely with classroom teachers and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), you will provide tailored assistance to individuals or small groups, ensuring they receive the necessary support to overcome barriers to learning.
Supply Desk are looking for SEN teaching assistants that would be a perfect fit for this opportunity allowing them to gain experience while working in a SEN school or environment.
The role/ Responsibilities:
- Create an interesting environment for the pupils
- Communicate with parents and teachers and provide behavioral and emotional support
- To support the teacher with preparation, display and general classroom duties, including the organisation and development of class planning
- Provide one-to-one support or small group intervention sessions for students with SEN
- Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies
- Encourage pupils to challenge themselves and promote independence and self-esteem among students with SEN
- To adopt and follow all school policies and to be aware of Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety legislation
- You will be jointly responsible for the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults in our care, it is a requirement of this role that you adhere to all relevant safeguarding policies and procedures.
Ideal Candidate:
- Good knowledge of SEN and passion to develop
- NVQ in Childcare and education or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or prior experience working with or in SEN environment
- Experience of supporting social and emotional development
- Passionate and enthusiastic about teaching and helping pupils
- Able to commute to Princes Risborough and the surrounding areas
- Current valid DBS or the willingness to obtain one
