Job Title: School Caretaker Pay: £15.86–£17.30 per hour Location: Handsworth Type: Full-time, On-site Requirement: Enhanced DBS Check Shift Pattern: Morning or Afternoon (to be negotiated once started) - Morning: 6:30am – 2:30pm - Afternoon: 10:30am – 6:30pm Our client, a busy school in Handsworth, is seeking an experienced School Caretaker to oversee all aspects of site management, ensuring a safe, well-maintained environment for staff and pupils. This is a temp-to-perm position, offering the opportunity to secure a permanent role based on performance. Key Responsibilities - Building & Grounds Maintenance: Undertake proactive and reactive maintenance, minor repairs, and general groundskeeping. - Low Maintenance Jobs: Assist with day-to-day, smaller maintenance tasks. - Health & Safety: Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and statutory requirements. - Security: Open and lock the premises, manage alarms, and respond to emergency call-outs. - Contractor Liaison: Supervise and coordinate on-site contractors. - Stock & Supplies: Monitor and order essential site supplies. - Event Support: Assist with logistics for school events and activities. Candidate Requirements - Previous experience as a school caretaker is essential. - A calm, patient attitude when working around children. - Strong organisational and practical maintenance skills. - A reliable, flexible, and proactive approach to work.
