Materials Handler

Location: Birmingham
Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:30am - 4:00pm
Pay Rate: £13.53 per hour

Materials Handler Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a Materials Handler to join a busy warehouse and logistics operation in Birmingham. This role would suit candidates with previous warehouse, stock control, inventory, or logistics experience who have excellent attention to detail and enjoy working in a structured environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete daily inventory cycle counts.
• Physically locate and count stock items.
• Verify part numbers and storage locations.
• Accurately record stock quantities.
• Carry out recounts where discrepancies are identified.
• Report stock variances for further investigation.
• Check stock-location accuracy.
• Identify misplaced or incorrectly labelled inventory.
• Support inventory housekeeping and location-control activities.
• Assist with stock audits and physical inventory checks.
• Provide general support to the Inventory team with routine stock control tasks.

Candidate Requirements

• Previous inventory counting or stock control experience.
• Experience working within a warehouse or logistics environment.
• Ability to work accurately with strong attention to detail.
• Good organisational skills and ability to follow procedures.
• Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
• Comfortable with manual handling duties and being on your feet throughout the shift.

Working Environment

This is a warehouse-based role and will involve:

• Standing and walking for extended periods.
• Manual handling in line with site requirements.
• Working within temperature-controlled areas, including:
  • Freezers operating at -20°C
  • Cold rooms operating between +2°C and +8°C
• Adhering to all site Health, Safety and Environmental procedures.

PPE & Dress Code

PPE will be provided where required. Employees must:

• Wear safety footwear at all times.
• Wear Hi-Vis clothing in designated areas.
• Maintain a smart casual appearance whilst on site (no shorts permitted).
