Role: CP Social Worker
Salary: £45.46ph umb
Location: Westmorland and Furness Council; Barrow
Job Type: Locum
Shifts: 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday
About the Role:
As a Social Worker, you will provide essential support to individuals and families facing a wide range of challenges. You'll assess needs, develop care plans, and work alongside multidisciplinary teams to safeguard vulnerable people and improve their quality of life. This is a highly rewarding role where you will directly impact the wellbeing and safety of those you support.
Barrow in Furness predominantly however children can live within 20miles of Barrow that we support and placements can vary within the whole of Cumbria as a county and surrounding counties for LAC children.
20-25 children including court proceedings/children subject to ICO/CP /CIN/PLO.
We work a duty rota system and the team cover duty every 4th week - during duty week I would request that the worker is in Barrow all week to support the team. We hold team catchup's (optional attendance) on teams every morning for half an hour so that the team can jump on and highlight any issues they may have for the day. Once a week on a Wednesday we have team meeting in person in Craven House so that we can share information up and down and have a general catch up in person. Once a month we have a stop the clock day so that admin tasks and/or group supervision can take place
We use Signs of Safety as a model of practice and operate a strengths based approach with our families
The team support children on child in need right up to placement orders
The remaining 3 weeks of the rota - I would expect the SW to organise their own diary to manage visits/meetings etc, there is opportunity to work from home however I would expect that if they chose to work from home and one of their children/families required urgent support/help then they would travel to Barrow and deal with the emergency - duty do not over this if the worker is working. I would consider a request for condensed hours but already have EPW's in the team one takes Tuesday and the other a Friday so I would request that an alternative day was chosen. The team are really strong and supportive of each other and get on really well as Team Manager I am based in Barrow and am very often in the office to support the team.
